Reus, Catalan Capital of Culture 2017

Reus will be the Catalan Capital of Culture 2017. The Capital of Culture is aimed at all Catalan linguistic and cultural Catalan. Aims to contribute to expand the dissemination, use and social prestige of the language and culture, increase cultural cohesion of the territories of Catalan language and culture and, finally, promote and project the municipality designated as capital of Catalan Culture, both inside and outside. The Parliament of Catalonia supported the Catalan Capital of Culture unanimously by all parliamentary groups, on 25 March 2004.

One of the great potential and Reus praised the organization is its rich and varied calendar of many cultural activities that are distributed throughout the year and is complemented by stable programming theaters Fortuny, Bartrina , Bravium Hall and St. Lucia, as well as the choir Reus and Cal Masso and art exhibitions organized by the city council whether or Reus different galleries in the city.

It works on five areas of work to build this capital program: the shaft and historical heritage; Axis traditional festive and popular; Axis of literature and thought, the axis of the arts and the creation and fifth axis on knowledge, creativity and innovation. Reus has planned in its bid to prepare a set of specific activities linked to another major cultural areas, leisure and tourism that the city and is Modernism.
